Man seen in carriageway on the A30 near Redruth has died

Police have confirmed the death of a man spotted in the carriageway on Cornwall's A30.

Emergency services were called to concerns for a person's welfare near Redruth on Sunday.

Tragically, a man in his 60s was confirmed dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police say his family have been informed and they are not treating the death as suspicious.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the force said a file is being prepared for the coroner.

It reads: "Police were called at 1pm on Sunday to the A30 at Redruth following reports of concern for the welfare of a person seen in the carriageway.

"Emergency services attended the scene.

"A man in his 60s was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner".
