Man dies after 'falling' from flats in St Austell

Police and paramedics were called to Park House tower block on Saturday morning

A man has died after falling from a block of flats in St Austell - Cornwall's only tower block.

Police and paramedics were called to Park House on Bridge Road on Saturday morning (1st October), to reports of a someone seriously injured.

Tragically, despite the best efforts of medics, the casualty was declared dead at the scene.

Officers say enquiries into the incident involving a man, believed to be local and in his 50s, are ongoing.

However, Devon & Cornwall Police added that they do not believe his death to be suspicious.

A force spokesperson said: "Police were called by the ambulance service at around 8:20am on Saturday 1st October.

"They were at Park House on Bridge Road in St Austell following reports of a seriously injured man in the area who had believed to have fallen from the building, sustaining critical injuries.

"Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the man, who is believed to be local and in his 50s, was declared deceased at the scene.

"Efforts continue to locate a next of kin.

"Enquiries continue into this matter but at this time we do not believe this incident to be suspicious.

"A file is to be prepared for the coroner".
