Man dies following crash on Cornwall's A30

A stretch of road was closed for five hours

A man has died following a crash on Cornwall's A30 that closed the road for five hours.

A silver BMW was involved in the collision between Victoria and Highgate Hill on Friday afternoon.

Sadly a 59-year-old man from Somerset died at the scene.

A forensic examination was carried out at the scene and police are urging anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A30 in Cornwall on Friday 25 March in which one man died.

"Emergency services were called at 3.25pm following the collision involving a silver BMW 220 on the Cornwall-bound carriageway between Victoria and Highgate Hill.

"A 59-year-old man from Somerset was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The carriageway between Victoria and Highgate Hill was closed for five hours to allow for a forensic examination of the scene and recovery of the vehicle."

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 514 of 25th March.
