Man charged with murder after body found in Cornish reservoir

A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in a reservoir near Penzance.

Police were called to Drift Service Reservoir on Thursday afternoon, after reports that a body had been seen in the water.

37-year-old Edward Hinds was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was originally from the Midlands area but had been living in the Lelant area for the last few weeks.

Now Nigel Honey, of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder.

The 50-year-old appeared via video link before Truro Magistrates court on Monday 22nd February.

The case has been sent up to Bristol Crown Court for a further hearing on Tuesday, and will then be referred to Truro Crown Court.

He has been remanded in custody.

"Police were called to Drift Service Reservoir near Penzance at 4pm on Thursday 18 February following reports that a body had been seen in the water.

"The man, now formally identified as 37-year-old Edward Hinds, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"Mr Hinds was originally from the Midlands area but had been living in the Lelant area for the last few weeks.

"Nigel Honey aged 50, of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder in connection to this incident.

"Honey remains in police custody and is due before Truro Magistrates Court on Monday 22 February".
