Police say a man from Penzance has been charged with assaulting two children by touching.

The charges relate to separate incidents, alleged to have happened at Causewayhead and on Eastern Green Beach.

The incidents are said to have taken place two days apart, on Saturday 28th May and Monday 30th May.

Kieran Vincent, of Penzance, is accused of two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13.

The 24-year-old appeared before Truro Magistrates Court on Wednesday 1st June.

He was remanded in custody and is now due at Truro Crown Court on 5th July.

The update follows an appeal for information and a message of reassurance from Devon and Cornwall Police.

Speaking on Tuesday, Detective Inspector Rick Milburn said: "I would also like to reassure the public that incidents such as these are rare and Penzance is a safe place to live".
