Man charged with murder following death of elderly woman in Cornish village

The 84-year-old is due before Truro Crown Court on Wednesday

A man has been charged with murder following the death of an elderly woman in a Cornish village.

Emergency services were called to an address in Laflouder Fields, Mullion, just after 11am on Saturday morning.

Sadly an 82-year-old woman died at the scene.

Police have confirmed that 84-year-old local Donald Hickery appeared before magistrates on bank holiday Monday.

He is now due to appear at Truro Crown Court on Wednesday.

"A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an 82-year-old woman.

"Donald Hickery, 84, of Laflouder Fields in Mullion, appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court on Monday 31st May.

"He is next due to appear at Truro Crown Court tomorrow, Wednesday 2nd June."

Officers added that enquiries into what happened are still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
