A man has been arrested after a woman was assaulted in St Austell.

Police were called to Poltair Court yesterday afternoon.

A St Austell man aged in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

It was also reported that a man was in possession of a suspected bladed weapon.

Devon and Cornwall Police officers investigating a report of sexual assault in St Austell have issued an appeal to find two potential witnesses who may have seen the incident.

Officers are trying to locate the driver and passenger of a red Vauxhall Corsa that was parked at the top of Alexandra Road between 3.30pm and 4pm on Saturday 13 January.

It was reported that a woman aged in her 20s was touched inappropriately by a male suspect in the area during this time.

Officers are reassuring that there's no wider threat and that it's being treated as an isolated incident.

Police are also particularly keen to hear from any motorists that were traveling on Alexandra Road at the time who may have dashcam footage.
