A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling on rocks on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula.

The incident happened at Cadgwith Cove on Thursday evening.

Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team, the Lizard Lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 were scrambled.

Crews arrived just after 6.30pm, to find the casualty conscious and waiting for medical help.

The smaller Y-boat was used to ferry paramedics to The Todden, Little Beach, before the arrival of the helicopter.

The man was then flown to Treliske for further treatment.

Posting on Facebook, the RNLI issued a warning to beach-goers and those walking the coast.

"Even on the sunniest of days please let this be yet another reminder of how dangerous our coastline can be.

"Don't take any unnecessary risks and most importantly please continue to Respect the Water".
