Man in his 40s dies following an incident at Ginsters factory in Cornwall

The casualty was airlifted to Derriford Hospital last week, where he later died

Police have confirmed a man has died following an incident at the Ginsters pasty factory in Callington.

The casualty in his 40s was airlifted to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries last week, but later died.

Officers were called just after 7am on Tuesday 2nd December, after being contacted by the air ambulance.

In a statement released on Monday (13th December), Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed a lorry was involved.

The force says the death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive,

A Devon and Cornwall Police officer said: "Just after 7am on Thursday 2nd December, police were contacted by the air ambulance following an incident at the Ginsters factory on Granite Way, Callington, involving an employee and a HGV lorry.

"A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was later declared deceased at Derriford Hospital.

"This matter has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive to consider any health and safety issues and working practices; this death isn’t being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner".
