There has been a major water mains burst in a village between Truro and Redruth.

A road closure has been put in place on Fore Street in Chacewater because of the issue.

A diversion is currently in place and teams from South West Water are working to fix the problem.

"There has been a major water mains burst in Chacewater and South West Water has set up a road closure on Fore Street, Chacewater.

"South West Water is working hard to resolve.

"Unfortunately due to the severity of the burst they had no choice but to close the road and a diversion has been put in place."

Cornwall Council

South West Water has confirmed the road is likely to be closed until Saturday.

"Fore Street in Chacewater is closed with a diversion route in place while we reinstate the road surface following a burst water main yesterday.

"The burst was located yesterday afternoon and repaired by 12.15am this morning when water supplies were restored to 64 affected properties.

"We hope to be able to reopen the road tomorrow. "
