One person has had a lucky escape after their car went over the edge of a cliff on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula.

It is not clear how the vehicle ended up in such a precarious position at Cadgwith Cove.

Two teams of firefighters and the Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team were rushed to the scene, early on Tuesday morning.

Crews managed to stabilise the car using special rescue lines, before pulling the casualty out through the boot.

Remarkably, they escaped uninjured!

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said: "Crews from Mullion and line rescue appliances from Tolvaddon attended this incident, as well as an officer, which involved a single vehicle in a precarious position.

"HM Coastguard and Devon & Cornwall Police also attended.

"Fire personnel used line rescue equipment to secure and stabilise the vehicle.

"One casualty was successfully recovered, uninjured".
