Long delays have been reported on the back road to St Ives due to travel restrictions for the G7 Summit.

Photos show that traffic is at a standstill on the old coach road leading away from Lelant.

It is the official diversion route while the A3074 from the A30 through to Carbis Bay is closed.

The restrictions came into force at 9am on Thursday 10th June and the road will remain shut until 23.59pm on Sunday 13th.

Locals living in the secure zones around key locations such as Carbis Bay and Falmouth are having to pass through checkpoints.

Drivers are being asked to produce two forms of ID to be allowed through to their homes and businesses.

There have been long delays in the Mawgan Porth area too due to closures around Cornwall Airport Newquay.

The delays in the Mawgan Porth area have since cleared but sensors show travel times on the St Ives diversion route are up to 60 minutes.
