FULL list of candidates for local elections in Cornwall
Here are all the candidates running in the town, parish and Cornwall Council elections on May 6th 2021
Cornwall will go to the polls on May 6TH to elect who they want to represent them at County Hall on Cornwall Council.
This year, for the first time, the council will be made up of 87 councillors, reduced from the current 123 following a boundary review by the Government.
Now details have been revealed about who has put themselves forward hoping to secure your vote so that they have a seat in the council chamber for the next four years.
With the reduction in seats up for grabs the list of candidates has shown some areas where current Cornwall councillors will be facing off against each other.
In Altarnun & Stoke Climsland current elected members Neil Burden (Ind) and Adrian Parsons (LD) will do battle due to the boundary changes.
It’s a similar story in Calstock where Jim Flashman (Con) and Dorothy Kirk (Lab) will face each other and in Camborne Trelowarren where David Atherfold (Con) and Paul White (Ind) are among the candidates.
Camelford & Boscastle will see current Cabinet member Rob Rotchell (LD) go up against Barry Jordan (Con) and in Liskeard South & Dobwalls Jesse Foot (LD) will be facing Jane Pascoe (Con).
Over in Newquay the election in Newquay Porth & Tretherras will see current Cornwall councillors Joanna Kenny (LD) and Kevin Towill (Con) battling for votes. And in Padstow among the candidates are Jacquie Gammon (LD) and Stephen Rushworth (Con).
In Penwithick & Boscoppa there are just two candidates and they are both sitting Cornwall councillors – Matt Luke (MK) and Sally-Anne Saunders (Con).
Current Cabinet member Tim Dwelly (Ind) lines up in Penzance East where candidates include current councillor Cornelius Olivier (Lab).
And in Redruth South the candidates include current councillors Barbara Ellenbroek (Con) and Ian Thomas (Ind). Over in Saltash Tamar Cornwall councillors Derek Holley (Ind) and Sheila Lennox-Boyd (Con) are among the candidates.
Two seats in the St Austell area see Cornwall councillors facing each other – in St Austell Bethel & Holmbush current leader of the Lib Dems at County Hall, Malcolm Brown has Conservative councillor Jordan Rowse among his opponents.
And in St Austell Poltair & Mount Charles Jackie Bull (LD) and Richard Pears (Con) are among the candidates.
In St Columb Minor & Colan John Fitter (Ind) and Mark Formosa (Con), both current councillors, are the only candidates.
And in Threemilestone & Chacewater the candidates include current councillors John Dyer (Con) and Dulcie Tudor (Ind).
Lastly in Wadebridge East & St Minver current councillors Stephen Knightley (LD) and Carol Mould (Con) are among the candidates.
Other interesting divisions include the Penzance Promenade where current town mayor Nicole Broadhurst (Lab) and current Cornwall councillor Jim McKenna (Ind) are among the candidates.
Another mayor standing for Cornwall Council election is St Austell mayor Tim Styles (LD) who is among the candidates for St Austell Central & Gover including current Cornwall councillor Sandra Hewyard (Ind) and local MP Steve Double’s wife Anne (Con).

The town and parish councils in Cornwall which will have elections have been revealed after nominations closed.
Local elections are set to take place on May 6rh with Cornwall Council elections as well as elections for the Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner.
While election notices were posted for almost all town and parish councils in Cornwall there will only be elections for those which have more candidates standing than seats available.
The vast majority of town and parish councils will not need any votes to be cast with those nominated able to take their seats after May 6 without having an election.
