The HMS Richmond is a Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy, which arrived in Falmouth Docks this morning - and will be open for visitors with tickets to come onboard for tours on the weekend.

Georgina Stark, warfare officer on board the HMS Richmond, said: "I love being with my friends all the time. You take your best friends with you.

"Everywhere you go, you take your home with you"

"I've been as far West as Guam, as far North as the Northern Circle. It's great being with your shipmates all the time.

"We don't get a lot of time off, a lot of weekends quite often, don't a lot of time to enjoy the smaller moments or take a moment to think and celebrate what we actually do. It's nice to take a weekend to put that at the forefront and celebrate the military for what it is."

Trevor Brookes, Lieutenant Commander and resident naval officer in Falmouth, said: "We've got groups of school children from the locality coming on board. They'll be shown around the ship, shown the capability of the ship. For some children it might be the very first time they've ever been on a large warship such as the HMS Richmond.

"Their whole life is focused on this, where they sleep, where they eat, where they socialise, and of course all the different jobs and professions that are on board."

The ship will be docked at County Wharf A&P Falmouth from 10am Saturday, June 24 until 2pm on Sunday, June 25 - and will be open for tours with visitors who have already pre-booked tickets.
