Firefighters spend night battling large gorse blaze on Bodmin Moor

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service says it received multiple 999 calls

Firefighters have been battling a large gorse blaze on Bodmin Moor through the night.

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service says Critical Control received multiple calls to the Colliford Lake area on Tuesday evening.

Crews from Liskeard and Bodmin rushed to the scene close to Colliford Dam, along with a wholetime officer.

They used hoses and beaters to douse the flames.

The fire was out by the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Cornwall FRS said: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls to reports of a large gorse fire in the Colliford Lake area of Bodmin Moor,

"On arrival crews confirmed a large area of gorse was alight.

"Crews from Liskeard and Bodmin fire stations attended alongside a wholetime officer.

"Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire".

They later added: "The fire has now been extinguished and all crews have left the scene".
