Jury return verdicts in Redruth attempted murder trial

A jury has returned its verdicts in the trial of three men accused of attempted murder in Redruth.

It follows an incident in Drump Road on Thursday 6th July 2023, that saw two men sustain serious injuries.

Paul Amoah, 39,Gavin Smale, 44, and Lee Mitchell, 28, were charged with attempted murder, two wounding with intent charges, wounding and aggravated burglary.

After a period of lengthy deliberation, Amoah was found guilty of attempted murder, two wounding with intent charges and aggravated burglary.

Mitchell was cleared of attempted murder but found guilty of two wounding with intent charges and aggravated burglary.

Smale was found not guilty of attempted murder and two wounding with intent charges but was found of unlawful wounding and aggravated burglary.

The judge described it as a “serious” case when jury made its decision.

All three defendants were remanded in custody ahead of sentencing in March.
