A man has been taken to hospital with injuries following an incident on board a ship at Falmouth Docks.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Monday evening (25th July).

The casualty, in his 50s, was taken to Derriford but his injuries are not believed to be life-changing.

Officers say the Health and Safety Executive have been told about what happened.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were notified at around 5pm on Monday 25th July of an incident on board a ship in Falmouth dock where a man sustained injuries.

"A number of emergency services attended where a man, aged in his 50s, was taken to Derriford hospital with injuries not being treated as life threatening or changing.

"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed."

A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency added: "Shortly before 5pm on Monday 25th July, HM Coastguard’s assistance was requested by the ambulance service regarding a medical incident on board a research vessel alongside at County Wharf, Falmouth.

"Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were sent to assist in the arrival of an air ambulance and help to winch the casualty to the helicopter for onward travel to Derriford Hospital.

"Falmouth Harbour Master, MCA Survey and Inspection Team, Devon and Cornwall Police and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been informed."
