Firefighters from across Cornwall have been battling a huge blaze in the centre of St Ives.
Multiple crews have been pictured at the scene and along the harbourfront since first thing on Wednesday.
The blaze broke out at a building on Fore Street just before 5.30am on Wednesday (October 20th).
There are reports that people have had to be evacuated from flats near The Balcony.
Six major crews were called to the scene, along with specialised appliances.
The road is closed and Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service has urged people to avoid the area if possible.
Janine's friend works at a local business but when they walked into town, they were stopped at the cordon.
Janine said: "We walked down the back of Barnoon to get into Fore Street but it's cordoned off to pedestrians and no vehicles can get through.
"There were lots of fire engines. There's an odd smell - I presume that's an electrical fire.
"We did speak to a fireman who was really nice and just explained that we can't get through there. Becky can't get to her shop".
Cornwall Fire & Rescue said: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue are in attendance at a property fire on Fore Street in the centre of the town.
"There are currently six major appliances on scene with a number of specialised appliances also in attendance. Please avoid the area if possible".
Inrix Traffic and Travel has confirmed the road is closed: "Fore Street one way street is closed due to a building fire from Bunkers Hill to Lifeboat Hill".
We are waiting for an update from Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service and more information will appear below.
