Multiple firefighters have spent the night battling a blaze that tore through a bungalow at a village near Redruth.

The blaze broke out on Sunday night and scrambled crews from Tolvaddon and Perranporth, as well as police and Western Power.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed teams arrived to find the derelict building well alight.

At one point, they had to use power tools to remove trees in the garden to make way for the use of the ladder.

Loscombe Lane was cordoned off while emergency services worked to douse the flames and firefighters remained at the scene until the early hours of Monday morning.

In a statement, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three appliances are in attendance at a derelict property fire. The bungalow measures 10 x 6 metres and was well alight on crews' arrival. Firefighters are using two main jets and two hose reel jets on the fire.

"Police are in attendance and are maintaining a cordon around the building with the road outside being closed".

Shortly before midnight they added: "Three Fire crews from Tolvaddon and Perranporth remain on scene using three main jets, two hose reel jets.

"Western Power engineers have attended to isolate the electrics in the property.

"Power tools are in use to remove trees from the garden of the property to make way for use of a ladder. Good progress on the fire is being made".

Shortly after 3.15am, Cornwall Fire and Rescue confirmed the fire was out and all crews had left the scene.

An investigation is due to be carried out on Monday 24th January.
