A Cornish charity are warning of the dangers of hot weather - as they continue to face record demand this summer.

St Petroc's, who have been talking to visitors at the Royal Cornwall Show, saw higher numbers over the winter than ever before and are urging the public to continue to support them through higher pressures.

Henry Meacock, chief executive at St Petroc's, said: "At times like this when it's really hot and people are outside, people are at extreme risk.

They suffer from dehydration, impact from the sun exposure so we offer places people can come in out of the hot water, have something to drink, have some suncream.

"What we find is people really engage with us in extreme weather, whether it's extremely cold or extremely hot, so we're grateful for all the donations we get in."

The charity have shared their thanks to their volunteers and employees - and told us they're always looking for people to help support people facing nights sleeping rough.

Henry added: "We couldn't do what we do without the voluntary effort and it makes such a difference, those small connections that people will make just have an exponential impact. It involves the whole community.

"There's loads of ways people can get involved, there's dedicated areas for volunteers and opportunities for roles."

You can find out how to support them on their website.
