10 emergency vehicles deployed to hoax call in Cornwall

Crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have put out a warning after they, along with other emergency personnel, attended a hoax call on Saturday evening.

It was reported that three fire crews, five police cars, an ambulance and a rapid response ambulance were called to the scene which turned out to be fake.

Fire crews are reminding residents that hoax and malicious calls are a criminal offence.

"We take hoax and malicious calls very seriously and will do everything possible to ensure a conviction is obtained or action is taken against the perpetrator.

"If convicted the perpetrator can, and have been, heavily prosecuted for making hoax calls with a fine of up to several thousands of pounds and/or up to six months in prison."
