A man from Helston has been found guilty of the murder of his 62-year-old grandmother more than two years ago.
Police and paramedics were also sent to the scene but, tragically, she was pronounced dead.
Devon and Cornwall Police then launched an investigation, which lasted six months, before charging 27-year-old Cameron Dancey-Stevenson with his murder.
At the time of his charge, in November 2021, a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Devon & Cornwall Police said: "A man has been charged in connection to a murder investigation into the death of a woman at a property in Helston on 25th May.
"Police were called to the address in Meneage Road where 62-year-old Alison Stevenson was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"Cameron Dancey-Stevenson, aged 25, from Helston, has been charged with murder and is due to appear before Truro Magistrates Court on Friday 12th November."
He denied killing Alison Stevenson at a property in Maneage Road in Helston between May 24th and 25th in 2021.
That was back in February 2022, when he appeared at Truro Crown Court via video link from the psychiatric unit.
Today (August 29), following a two-week trial at Exeter Crown Court, Dancey-Stevenson, who has been residing in Langdon Hospital's psychiatric ward in Dawlish, was convicted of murder by a jury, after less than three hours of deliberations.
He's due to be sentenced at tomorrow morning following the unanimous verdict against him.
The only sentence Judge Simon Carr, who has been the judge in the case, can pass is life imprisonment - however, there is a possibility that Dancey-Stevenson will remain in Langdon Hospital.
That could be until he is well enough to be transferred to jail, as he currently resides in Langdon Hospital.
