Organisers of Helston's Flora Day have decided to move the event, to avoid a clash with King Charles III's Coronation.

The annual Cornish celebration was meant to take place on Saturday 6th May, but the Helston Flora Day Association say it will now go ahead on Friday 5th May:

"It is with careful consideration with all relevant safety partners and to avoid clashing with the coronation of King Charles, we announce Flora Day 2023 will take place on Friday 5th May.

"We look forward to welcoming you to Helston for what will be a joyous celebration weekend."

The association came to a decision at a meeting last night (Tuesday 18th October).

The event, which brings tens of thousands of people to the town each year, usually takes place on May 8th - unless the date falls on a Monday, due to it traditionally being a market day, or a Sunday.

Last year, Helston Flora Day returned in person on Saturday 7th May for the first time since the pandemic.
