Helifest cancelled due to bad weather
Cornwall Air Ambulance says 'hugely disappointed'
Cornwall Air Ambulance says it's been forced to cancel tomorrow's Helifest because of the weather.
It says an inspection was carried out this morning at the site above Padstow and the high winds have already caused major damage, having blown down equipment, marquees and tents.
For safety reasons, it's now been called off.
Tim Bunting, Chief Executive at Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We are hugely disappointed to announce that we have had to take the decision to cancel Helifest, an event that has been a year in the planning and a real highlight.
“However, the safety and enjoyment of visitors, exhibitors, staff and volunteers is paramount - and with a yellow weather warning for wind now in place over the next 24 hours, the site remains too dangerous for us to go ahead with the event.
“This has been an incredibly tough decision to make, and we would like to thank everyone who had planned to attend Helifest and support Cornwall Air Ambulance this weekend. We’re really sorry that the weather has prevented us from going ahead this year.”
