Heatwave forecast for Cornwall this weekend - and it COULD reach 30C
The Duchy is set to see temperatures in the high twenties for the next few days and possibly even slightly higher
It's gonna be hot, hot, hot in the Duchy this weekend and Cornwall is set for a heatwave.
Temperatures are expected to rise to the high twenties over Saturday and Sunday and we're told it could even possibly reach 30C in some areas, although that's more likely in the south east of the country.
For it to be classed as a heatwave in Cornwall, temperatures need to stay at 25C or higher for three days or more. And forecasters say that is on track to happen.
The Met Office heat health alert is at Level 2, an important stage for health and social care services.
They will be working to ensure readiness and swift action to reduce harm from a potential heatwave.
"I couldn't rule out a 30, I think it's a little bit unlikely. I think further east across other parts of England that's where there's a greater chance of getting into 30 degrees celcius. But defintely some very high temperatures for Cornwall.
"In Cornwall the threshold is for 25 degrees and to have that for three consecutive days, and it does look like we're going to have that as we go into the weekend. So it will technically be a heatwave."
