Health and care staff across Cornwall are coming together to pause and reflect about the coronavirus pandemic.

The Royal Cornwall Hospital is holding a live virtual event so people can take time to think about the effect of Covid-19 across our communities.

Trees are being planted, sculptures unveiled and benches installed at Treliske, St Michael's and the West Cornwall Hospital, to mark areas for everyone to use for quiet reflection.

Glass plates crafted by a local artist on the Isles of Scilly will be placed in the hospital reception areas.

Officials from RCHT also say it is an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to stand with one another "as we head into an uncertain few months and continue to care for our communities".

“We hope that colleagues from all sectors of health and care, including community hospitals, GPs and care homes, will come together for this short time and that members of the public will join us too, as we reflect on the effect the pandemic has had across our communities.”

Ahead of the event, taking place at 10.50am on Thursday 22nd October, yellow seed hearts are being distributed which people can display during the broadcast as a symbol of togetherness, before taking them home to plant in their garden or a special place.

You can join the virtual event via Microsoft Teams, either by webcam or by the camera on your phone or mobile device. Hospital bosses say they would love to see teams displaying their hearts on the day, but please remember to remain socially distanced.

The event will be an open livestream for health and care colleagues, as well as the public.

Those wanting to show their hearts can join the broadcast on MicrosoftTeams here.

There will also be a live stream of the event for staff and the public on YouTube:
