Hotel in Hayle evacuated after reports of suspicious man and 'explosion'

A hotel in Hayle has been evacuated after reports of an 'explosion' underneath a vehicle.

Police were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously outside the Premier Inn.

It is believed that a cannister exploded underneath a van and caused a small fire just after 7am on Friday morning.

Guests were evacuated as a precaution and there are no reports of any injuries.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Police were called at around 7.10am with a report of a man acting suspiciously outside the Premier Inn, Hayle.

"A suspected deodorant cannister is believed to have exploded underneath a van and caused a small fire. The vehicle was undamaged and drove off.

"Guests were evacuated as a precaution.

"Officers attended and arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the incident.

"Enquiries are being conducted at the location."
