Hayle man arrested on suspicion of murder

Police were called to a report of a concern for welfare of a woman.

A 74-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody following reports of a concern for welfare of a woman at an address in Hayle.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 2am on Monday 26th October to an address in Foundry Square.

Emergency services attended the scene where a woman in her 50s was located having sustained multiple injuries. She was confirmed dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed.

“This is currently being treated as an isolated incident and at this time we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death.

“A scene guard currently remains in place and local residents are likely to see officers in the area over the coming hours as the investigation continues."
