A young man has entered two guilty pleas following an incident in Newquay that left a casualty with serious injuries.

Police were called to reports of an altercation in the Tower Road area on the afternoon of Saturday 30th April.

Officers say a casualty in his 40s suffered suspected stab wounds and was taken to hospital.

Two people, aged 20 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of assault.

Kyle Ollivierre, aged 20, of no fixed address in Newquay, was later charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Appearing at Truro Crown Court on Tuesday (31st May) he admitted both charges.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the end of July.

Earlier this month police confirmed that no further action is being taken against a 17-year-old boy in relation to the alleged assault.

But he has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker. He appeared before Truro Magistrates Court.
