Devon and Cornwall Police say they 'want to avoid having to cut demonstrators from vehicles and railings' during the G7 summit.

The force has released more details about how they will be policing protests over the world leaders' event.

Officers say they will repeatedly ask any protestors blocking roads ahead of the G7 to remove themselves - before forcibly removing them.

Around 30 protest groups have confirmed they plan to stage a peaceful demonstration during next month's summit of world leaders - attending protest sites in Exeter, Plymouth, Truro and Falmouth.

The force say they are prepared for those who are planning to cause a disruption to residents to make their voices heard- and will deal with them appropriately.

Earlier this week, the force confirmed it is already carrying out detailed security searches ahead of next month's summit.

The force has specially trained officers who can detect items which might form some form of explosive.

They also have dog units which are able to respond to any disorder.

During the build up to the summit and during it there will be searches of roads, bridges, buildings, open areas, beaches and cliff tops.
