World leaders are going to be welcomed to Cornwall by creative projects from young people in the Duchy
The Prime Minister will be choosing a poem and works of art submitted by youngsters here to create a card to welcome world leaders to the G7 Summit in June.
Cornwall Council has teamed up with the Cabinet Office to launch two competitions: one for primary aged children and the other for secondary aged children.
The younger age group will be invited to submit artwork around the theme of climate change and preserving biodiversity.
The older age group will be asked to write a poem on the same subjects. All the entries will be assessed by a judging panel in Cornwall before Downing Street has the final say on the winner.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Cornwall to get creative, whilst delivering an important message to some of the worlds leaders.
“The competitions are open to anyone of school age and you can enter through a school, youth group or as an individual.”

About the competitions
The project is being coordinated with the support of Kernow Education Arts Partnership (KEAP), Pictures must be at least A4 in size and poems are open to creativity.
There will be two short films available from 20th April on the Y7Cornwall website to help inspire young people and suggest some ideas for starting points, coordinated by Kernow Education Arts Partnership with writer Rebecca Gregson and artist Melanie Young.
Entries can be submitted via the Young Persons website and need to be submitted by 4th May 2021.
