A fundraising page has been launched to help pay for the funeral of a young woman who died following a crash near Penryn.

33-year-old Ekaterina was involved in a collision with a van on the A39 near the Treliever roundabout last Friday (24th June).

She was airlifted to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital where sadly she later died.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

The collision happened between the Treliever Roundabout and Kernick Road Industrial Estate shortly after 9.30am, closing the road for around seven hours.

Now a Go Fund Me page, set up by Ekaterina's friend Eden, has already raised over £5,000.

The page reads: "There's lots of words running though my head but nothing that can console my good friend Zev from the devastating news that he received on Friday the 24th June, that Zev's beautiful wife had been in a terrible accident and sadly lost her life.

"With all their future ahead of them, dreams, plans all gone. Life is so precious, hold it tight because nothing could have prepared Zev and his family for this.

"Life seemed at long last to be on their side after such a long process for Ekaterina (from Georgia) to get her residence in the UK.

"Zev and Ekaterina where not even married a year.

"While Zev is processing his grief, what else can we do? We know nothing of his pain and no words can bring his beautiful Ekaterina back, but we can stand alongside him and support him.

"Financially they would have been unprepared for this as they where just starting their lives together.

"I would like your help to support Zev at this time and to try and take the stress away of worrying about funeral arrangements and the expense.

"Please, as a close community can we all come together at this sad time and be thankful we can still hold our nearest and dearest."

Campaigners are calling for a pedestrian bridge to be installed across the road between Mabe Burnthouse and the Tremough campus.
