There could be disruption on your drive to work this morning, thanks to a planned fuel prices protest on a busy stretch of Cornwall's A30.

Campaigners are set to drive at 20mph from Victoria Services to Chiverton Cross, setting off at 7am on Monday (4th July) and travelling back the same way.

The protest is part of a nationwide day of action called 'Stand up to Fuel Prices'.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they are working to engage with organisers to help facilitate a peaceful protest and minimise the impact on traffic.

Officers from across the force are being deployed to the roads network.

A spokesperson said: "We are aware of a planned protest due to take place on Monday 4th July and are attempting to engage with protest organisers to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and to protect our communities.

"We will facilitate peaceful protests, but criminal offences or significant disruption to communities will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.

"Officers from around the force will be deployed to the road network on Monday 4th July to ensure minimal disruption to traffic flow".

National Highways South West says it will work with partners to limit the effect and provide live travel updates.

A spokesperson said: "We respect people’s right to protest. However, we would urge people not to take part because protesting on the strategic road network would be extremely dangerous, not just for the protesters but for people using the roads.

"Along with the police and other partners, we work hard to limit the effects of protests on our network, and we’ll be doing all we can to keep people up to date with the latest traffic information and to keep drivers on the move".
