Free yoga and relaxation classes for NHS workers in Cornwall
Cornwall Yoga Centre has set up the scheme as a way to give back to the community
Free online sessions to help deal with the stresses that come from working on the frontline in the battle against covid-19, are being offered to all NHS workers in Cornwall.
Over the last nine months, Cornwall Yoga Centre based in Truro has produced over 200 videos and classes in a variety of yoga, pilates, mindfulness, live broadcasts, interactive sessions and more.
The Community Interest Company decided it would be great to give back to the community by giving NHS staff in the Duchy free access to its basic membership, giving them access to all online content and free mindfulness classes.
Bosses say it hopes that it will give them some relief, escape or just the help they need to relax.
Director, Aimee Blackman, explains the decision behind the initiative:
"There was a piece on the television featuring the concerns about stress levels and mental health challenges for the staff in the NHS.
"I thought that everything we have done here is designed to try and help people to manage this in some form or another."

She goes on to explain the health benefits from taking part in these types of classes:
"It's all about changing your position, from being in a stressful environment to being in a much more peaceful place; whether that be moving your arms and legs, taking a few deep breaths and just someone saying to you to relax.
"Cornwall is a big place and we have thousands of NHS workers, we would simply just like to offer them a helping hand to get through their day at this awful and strange time we find ourselves in"
