Four properties evacuated in west Cornwall amid carbon monoxide fears
Firefighters carried out gas testing but no risk was found
Four properties were temporarily evacuated in west Cornwall because of fears about carbon monoxide.
Firefighters were called to Lelant in the early hours of Monday morning, amid reports of an alarm sounding and digital reading.
Crews from St Ives and Hayle carried out gas testing in several properties but there was found to be no risk.
"At 01:43 Critical Control received a non-emergency call from an occupant with concerns about a carbon monoxide alarm sounding. As the alarm also gave a digital reading that carbon monoxide was present, a decision was made to mobilise crews to investigate.
"Two appliances, one from Hayle and one from St Ives were mobilised along with a Station Manager from Truro. Crews wearing breathing apparatus carried out gas testing in the affected property and two adjacent properties. Four properties were temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
"After completing relevant gas testing the Incident Commander was satisfied that there was no risk from carbon monoxide and resources were released from the incident back to their home stations."
