Former Head of Spaceport Cornwall gets new job in space industry
Melissa Quinn stepped down from her role last month
The former Head of Spaceport Cornwall has taken up a new role within the space industry.
Melissa Quinn, who worked at the Spaceport at Cornwall Airport Newquay announced she was stepping down from her job last month for a new challenge.
It's after the Start Me Up launch attempt to put nine satellites into orbit in January was unsuccessful.
In a post on Twitter, Melissa said she was "thrilled to announce" she's the new General Manager for Seradata for Slingshot Aero, who are a provider of satellite and launch data.
Melissa Quinn, who oversaw the first attempt at UK launch from Newquay, told us at the time it was a bittersweet decision to step down.
She told us: "It was a really hard decision but it's one I made quite a while ago.
"I've been here for 10 years, it's been really challenging, it's been an incredible experience, I love the team and everything we've done, it's been really awesome.
"I want to see what that next challenge looks like. It is a new chapter for the spaceport, after the first launch it feels like it's just at the beginning. It's the start of something different."
