From today (1st June), footpaths and part of the South West Coast Path will be shut ahead of the G7 Summit in Cornwall.

That includes the stretch near the Carbis Bay Hotel, which will host world leaders in less than a fortnight.

Some of the closures will be in force for two weeks, until Wednesday 16th or Thursday 17th of June.

It is part of what has been described as the biggest security operation in the history of Devon & Cornwall Police.

What areas of the South West Coast Path will be closed?

In Carbis Bay, the section of the South West Coast Path which runs through the Carbis Bay Hotel will be closed and a temporary diversion put in place.

Numerous footpaths and bridleways will also be closed from 7am on Tuesday 1st June.

Carbis Bay Hotel and the Tregenna Castle Hotel will be closed to members of the public during the Summit period.

In St Ives, local amenities will largely remain open and all beaches other than Carbis Bay will be accessible.

St Ives town centre and harbour will be open.
