Concerns have been raised about social distancing after large crowds were seen celebrating England's Euro 2020 semi-final win in Newquay town centre.

Several videos have emerged that show huge crowds gathered in the Central Square area on Wednesday night, following that 2-1 win against Denmark.

People can be seen chanting 'it's coming home' and the Three Lions go through to their first major tournament final since 1966.

Newquay Town Council is urging locals and tourists to follow Covid restrictions and help prevent cases from rising again.

"Newquay Town Council in no way endorses the actions of Wednesday evening’s large crowds congregating in the streets of Newquay to celebrate the football.

"The Council would like to implore residents and visitors to Newquay to think about their actions, maintain social distancing and respect property around the town.

"Government restrictions are easing but we still need to be mindful of our actions to prevent the risk of COVID-19 cases rising again in Newquay."
