Flood warnings for Cornwall as river levels rise
People in high risk areas are being urged to take extra care
Three flood warnings are in force for Cornwall after heavy rainfall caused river levels to rise.
The Environment Agency says the River Cober in Helston, the River Cober at Trenear and the River Hayle from Relubbus to St Erth are all at risk.
Further flooding is expected during Monday evening and into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
River levels are now dropping but are expected to rise again in response to forecast rainfall from 6pm until midnight.
Three flood alerts are also in force for the South Cornwall Coast from Lands End to Lizard Point, South Cornwall Coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding Truro City and the West Cornwall Rivers.

"Further heavy frontal rainfall is expected from the west this evening which will push river levels back above Flood Warning criteria. Levels are predicted to be higher than those observed during the last 24 hours. Peak river level is expected at 3am.
"A recently completed flood defence scheme will provide increased flood protection to properties in Helston, however the risk of flooding remains. Flooding is expected to properties, low lying land and roads close to the river.
"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor local conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages."
