Rain warning triggers string of flood alerts across Cornwall
The Duchy could also see downpours, power cuts and travel disruption
A string of flood alerts have been issued across Cornwall as another severe weather warning goes out.
The Met Office says more heavy rain could hit and trigger downpours, flooding, power problems and travel trouble.
The yellow alert is in force from 4pm on Wednesday through until 3am on Thursday.
Now the Environment Agency has issued flood alerts across the Duchy too.
Four are currently in force for the North Cornwall Rivers, the South Cornwall coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding Truro City, the Upper River Tamar and the West Cornwall Rivers.
It means Newquay, Padstow, Wadebridge and Sladesbridge, Bodmin, Lanivet, Boscastle and Camelford, Helford and Fal, Penryn, Flushing, St Mawes, Portscatho, Portloe, Portholland, Mevagissey and Par, Bude, Helebridge, Bridgerule, Canworthy Water, Launceston and Yeolmbridge, and Lands End, Penzance, Helston, Crowlas, St Ives, Hayle, Camborne, Portreath and Perranporth could all be at risk.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: " Flooding is possible this evening, Wednesday 20th October, and into Thursday morning.
"Yesterday’s heavy rain has caused river levels to rise and we expect these to remain high throughout today. Further heavy rainfall is expected this evening and into the early part of the night. Rivers are likely to rise quickly in response to this rainfall.
"This may result in flooding to low lying land and roads close to rivers from this evening Wednesday 20th October and into Thursday morning. However, flooding to properties is not currently expected.
"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages. This message will be updated on Thursday morning or earlier if the situation changes."
