Strong winds and big waves have put part of the south Cornish coast on flood watch.

The Environment Agency has issued one for the Lizard Point to Gribbin Head area, excluding Truro city.

That means the likes of Flushing, Penryn, St Mawes, Calenick, Mevagissey and Port Mellon could all be at risk on Monday morning.

We are being warned that there could be overtopping and spray around quaysides and lows lying roads.

"Flooding is possible over the morning high tide on Monday 29th March. Offshore wave heights of approximately 1.7 metres are forecast, together with Force 5 south westerly winds.

"Spray and overtopping may impact on coastal structures as well as wave run-up at slipways and beaches. It may cause minor flooding of quaysides and low-lying land and roads.

"Be prepared to take action with individual property protection measures.

"High water at Truro is at 06:45 on Monday; times of high water will vary along the coast. Peak tide level may be up to 100mm lower than published. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide.

"Locations which may be affected include Flushing, Penryn, St.Mawes, Calenick, Mevagissey and Port Mellon. People are advised to take care next to the coast."
