It has been revealed a total of three people went to hospital with injuries following an incident at a Cornish theme park.

It happened in one of the carriages on the Space Race at Helston's Flambards on Tuesday morning (26th July).

The ride currently remains closed while the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) carries out an investigation into what happened.

The HSE has confirmed it is investigating after three people suffered injuries on a ride and attended hospital.

A spokesperson said they are making enquiries into what happened and the ride remains closed to the public.

Simon Chilcott, HSE Principal Inspector, added: “While incidents at theme parks are relatively rare, we are now gathering information to ascertain what happened.”

Bosses at Flambards say the health and safety of staff and customers is their top priority.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, they said: "At 11:45 this morning (Tuesday 26th July) there was an incident at Flambards Theme Park in one of the carriages of our undercover ride Space Race, which caused the Ride Operator to perform an emergency stop.

"One adult attended Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro to receive treatment.

"The Park Specialist engineers are carrying out a full investigation in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive, to establish the cause of the incident.

"The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority and as a result the Space Race ride will remain closed until a full investigation has taken place.”
