The skies in Cornwall will be lit up for the New Year tonight.

Fireworks displays are being held across the Duchy to mark the start of 2024.

Various events are being held including in Newquay, Truro, Looe, Padstow and St Ives.

In Truro, a second display hosted for families of younger children will take place. The family fireworks were first introduced in 2019 but were unable to take place for the following two years because of the pandemic.

Alun Jones, chair of Truro BID, said: "Our partners Truro City Council will be putting on fireworks. In Truro there'll be two displays, one earlier for families at 7.30pm and then the traditional midnight fireworks on Lemon Quay with viewing across the weather.

"You can use the eateries, get yourself something to eat and then come outdoors."

Carol Swain, Truro Mayor, said: "I am delighted that the City Council is once again organising free firework displays on New Year’s Eve for the local community to enjoy.

"I am really looking forward to seeing people join together on Lemon Quay to celebrate New Year’s Eve and am keeping my fingers crossed for good weather on the night."
