Farmhouse fire in picturesque Cornish parish burns through the night

Crews from Fowey, Polruan Looe and Liskeard were battling the blaze at Lanteglos

Firefighters from across south-east Cornwall have spent the night battling a large fire at a farmhouse.

Crews from Fowey and Polruan were scrambled to the parish of Lanteglos late on Friday night (8th October).

They arrived to find the building well alight and called in back-up from Looe and Liskeard.

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said the blaze broke out on the first floor and its teams were still in attendance in the early hours of Saturday morning (9th October).

"A call was received at 22:14 by the Critical Control Centre to a report of a fire in a residential property in Lanteglos.

"Two appliances from Polruan and Fowey were immediately mobilised along with one whole time officer.

"On arrival, this incident was 'Made up' to four appliances and crews confirmed the building was well alight.

"Crews from Looe and Liskeard were then mobilised, along with another whole time officer.

"Crews remain in attendance. The property is a large detached farm house measuring approx 30m by 10m. The fire is on the first floor”.
