Fire crews have been called the scene of a house fire in Penzance this morning (Saturday 19 November).

Four fire engines, one aerial ladder and a command unit were dispatched to the property in Penalverne Crescent.

In a statement, Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at a property fire in Penzance. Currently we have four fire engines, one aerial ladder platform and a command unit in attendance.

"Crews are fighting the fire on a terraced property over two floors."

They have since issued an update to say that "good progress" is being made and the incident is being downscaled.

Crews are continuing to dampen down hotspots and say they will be in attendance for a considerable amount of time.
