Fire at derelict building in Camborne is believed to be arson

Crews from Tolvaddon and Truro were called to the scene

A fire has broken out in a derelict building in Camborne.

Smoke could be seen billowing in the North Roskear area at around 7.30am on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters from Tolvaddon and Truro were called to the scene and used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

It is believed that the cause is arson and police have been told.

"Two appliances from Tolvaddon and a further one from Truro are currently on scene at a fire in a derelict building in Camborne. On arrival the crew confirmed smoke was issuing from the building and are currently using breathing apparatus and hose reels to fight the fire.

Update 0830: "The fire is now limited to a small area within the building which the Firefighters are extinguishing. Crews will remain on scene for a further 30 minutes.

"The cause is believed to be arson and the Police have been informed."
