A SECOND weather warning has been issued for Cornwall, for strong winds of up to 60mph.

There are fears that could hamper the clean-up operation in the wake of Storm Eunice.

The gusts were so strong they damaged buildings, including ripping part of the roof off the lifeboat station at Sennen.

Thousands of homes were left without power and some are STILL waiting for supplies to be sorted.

Western Power says it is working hard to fix the problems, with some repairs not set to be completed until 6pm on Saturday 19th February.

At one point on Friday, all trains in and out of Cornwall were cancelled due to a fallen tree on the main line.

The latest weather warning will be in force from 6am-6pm on Saturday 19th February.

What can we expect on Saturday?

The Met Office says further strong winds are expected in some southern areas of the UK, which could hamper recovery efforts from storm Eunice. We can expect:

There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close

There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected

Infrastructure recovery works resulting from storm Eunice could also be hampered, i.e. power cuts may be prolonged.

The forecast states: "A short-lived area of strong winds looks likely to track quickly eastwards across southern parts of England and Wales on Saturday, accompanied by a spell of heavy rain.

"The strongest winds are expected through the Bristol Channel and along the south coast of England with gusts of 60mph likely here, and 40 to 50mph inland.

"The winds themselves could cause minor disruption; but given the expected impact from Storm Eunice on Friday, these conditions on Saturday may hamper any clear-up operations".
