Man in his 30s dies following motorbike crash in north Cornwall

The stretch of road near Bude was closed for around seven hours

Police have confirmed that a biker has died following a crash in north Cornwall.

A motorbike was involved in the single-vehicle collision near Bude on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services, including the Devon Air Ambulance, were called to the scene but sadly the 34-year-old man from Beaworthy could not be saved.

The stretch of the A3072 at Red Post was closed for around seven hours and anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact officers.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police were contacted at around 4.40pm on Monday 9th May following a single-vehicle collision involving a yellow and black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on the A3072 near to Red Post, Bude.

"Police, paramedics, and the Devon Air Ambulance crew attended the scene but sadly the motorcycle rider, a 34-year-old man from Beaworthy, was declared deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

"Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene and commenced their investigation.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience while the road was closed for around seven hours to enable an examination of the scene and for the recovery of the motorcycle to take place."
