The family of a young driver who died following a serious crash in west Cornwall have paid a heartfelt tribute.

Alfie Beard lost his life after a single-vehicle collision on the A394 at Porthleven on Tuesday night (2nd August).

The family of the 19-year-old from Helston have described him as a "truly amazing person".

"We are distraught to announce the passing of our precious boy. He was thoughtful, loving, generous, talented and determined, all in one - a truly amazing person.

"He was loved by many and adored so very much by us. We will hold you forever in our hearts and minds. Fly high sweet boy, until we meet again.

"Please allow us time to process our loss because we are all broken".

Devon & Cornwall Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and relevant dashcam footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Emergency services were called at 10.35pm to the A394 to reports of a collision involving a silver Mini Cooper

"Mr Beard (pictured) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended alongside the fire and ambulance services.

"The road was closed overnight for officers to carry out a specialist examination of the scene.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses to contact them. They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam of the incident.
