Walk-in clinics offer chance to grab a Covid jab after work in Cornwall
Evening sessions are being held in Mount Hawke and Penzance
Two evening Covid vaccine walk-in clinics are being held in Cornwall, to make it easier for people to grab a jab after work.
The sessions are taking place today (Thursday 8th July) at GP surgeries in Mount Hawke, near Truro, and Penzance.
Anyone who is older than 18 and not yet been vaccinated can receive their first and second doses of the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine at the Mount Hawke Surgery, Short Cross Road, Mount Hawke from 3pm to 7.30pm tonight.
St Clare Medical Centre in St Clare Street, Penzance, is also holding an evening walk-in COVID vaccination clinic, from 6pm to 7.30pm tonight. St Clare Medical Centre is offering first dose appointments of the Pfizer vaccine.
The walk-in clinics aim to make it easier for anyone who is working or has other commitments during the day to come and grab a jab.
There is no need to book an appointment – just turn up and get vaccinated.
“Like everyone, I want to get back to doing the things we all loved doing before the pandemic struck, like going on holiday and seeing family.
“Cases of COVID are increasing in Cornwall, and on Friday you can protect yourself at our pop-up clinic at Reed Pharmacy in Truro. You don’t have to book, just turn up and get your jab.
“Getting vaccinated not only protects you and your loved ones, but is our way out of this pandemic. Don’t delay, and do it for Cornwall.”
NHS Kernow’s chairman, Dr Paul Cook
“We know some people may not have yet had the first dose of the COVID vaccination because they are either working or can’t fit it into their day. We hope the evening walk-in clinic, where no appointment is necessary, will appeal to people who would otherwise not be able to find the time during the day.”

Following the success of mobile vaccination unit, the van will continue its tour, providing Pfizer first doses, and arrives from 10am to 5.30pm in Bodmin on Monday and Roche on Tuesday.
